Chemistry Inspired by Nature

There's a perfect substitute for petrochemicals found in everyday products.
BioAmber produces it responsibly, economically and at scale.

Current Scale

BioAmber has operated 180,000 and 350,000 liter fermenters at the large-scale demonstration facility in Pomacle, France since January 2010. At the 350,000 liter scale, the Company believes it operates one of the largest bio-based manufacturing fermenters in the world and has been doing so for over three years, gaining valuable experience and operating data.

BioAmber’s operating history of running large-scale batch fermentation and continuous purification has enabled it to:

  • Validate its process in terms of both cost-effectiveness and product quality
  • Identify and implement process improvements at large scale
  • Incorporate these process improvements into its engineering design for its Sarnia plant
  • Minimize scale-up risk for future manufacturing facilities
